The lyrics in this song are from John 9, the story of Jesus healing the blind man. The title and upbeat music are the inspiration of Tracy Lord, a member of the band. At the time we were writing and recording songs, I had witnessed the unparalleled happiness of one of my students, whose sight was saved by a miraculous chain of events involving school personnel, an airline, and a community of physicians. This student was one of my classroom of newly arrived refugees from camps in Kenya. Before arriving in the US, his dangerously poor eyesight and its cause had gone undiagnosed. Upon undergoing a new surgical procedure in a state far from Vermont, my student's poor eyesight was instantly reversed and saved. Not treating his condition would have eventually brought about blindness. He was near blind, but now he sees…very happily.
